The Wound Care Service (sometimes called the Tissue Viability Service) supports people with non-healing or slow to heal wounds. Our specialist nurses support communities and healthcare staff with any type of wound that requires advanced medical attention, including trauma wounds, surgical wounds, leg ulcers and pressure ulcers.
Our service can provide a comprehensive assessment if you have a non-healing or slow-to-heal wound that requires advanced wound therapy treatments. An assessment can take place in your home, with your practice nurse, or within a clinic.
After your assessment, a treatment plan will be drawn up and shared with your practice nurse or community nurse, who will then undertake the care. Depending on this plan, we may arrange to visit you to review the care to ensure that the wound is progressing as expected.
A number of advanced wound treatments can then be considered as necessary. Our service means you will continue to see your regular nurse as usual, but with expert assessment and guidance from our team.
